Billing

Learn how LIT subscription billing works

LIT’s monthly subscription plan processes billing automatically and recurrently on the date of your subscription. If your billing date is scheduled for a date that does not apply in a certain month (like the 31st), your billing date will be automatically rescheduled for the last day of said month. Your chosen payment mode will enter into effect every billing cycle; however, the transaction may be displayed on your account only after a few days. For LIT’s annual subscription plan, your billing date will be automatically scheduled recurrently for your subscription date.

Read on for more information about LIT’s billing process. For more information about fees, payment modes, how to update or change your billing date or to report duplicate billing, please check the FAQs about Billing.

Why has the free trial period been billed?

When you subscribe to the free trial period, LIT checks your data and issues an authorization for billing for an approximate amount to that of the monthly subscription plan. This procedure allows us to associate your data to a valid account that may be successfully billed in the future. This authorization does not stand for billing and will be later deleted from your account.

NOTE: If you have previously registered at LIT, have canceled your subscription but is now renewing it, you will not be entitled to the 7-day free trial, which is valid only for new users.

What is a billing authorization request?

This authorization is requested by LIT from your financial institution in order to check if your chosen payment mode is valid. This authorization request does not stand for billing, but may have some temporary impact in your account balance.

Why may an authorization request have any impact in my account balance?

LIT will issue an authorization request for a given amount, which may vary from location to location or from one financial institution to another. This amount may have a temporary impact in your balance because your financial institution will check if you have available funds for payment. LIT will not collect the amount requested by the authorization. After a few days, the authorization request will no longer be displayed in your account. Please check the amount to be refunded to your account with your financial institution.

Will other fees/taxes be charged?

Local taxes, depending on your billing address, may be added to LIT’s monthly or annual subscription fees. Some financial institutions may charge additional taxes, so if you have any question, please check such rates with your financial institution.

How does the bank-slip payment mode work?

Only the annual subscription plan may be paid by bank-slip. This payment mode is not eligible to any discount, so the full subscription amount will be billed.

Please contact sac@lit.com.br if you wish to select this payment mode. You will be sent a voucher within two business days to register for the 7-day trial period as well as your bank-slip for payment. If payment is not made before your trial period expires your access to LIT will be blocked.

The annual plan may not be canceled during its term, even if you request your subscription to be canceled. This plan is not eligible to a full or a partial refund.

Invoice

NOTE: The invoice will be issued to the originating credit card holder that is registered at LIT. If the chosen payment mode is a bank-slip, the invoice will be issued according to the data provided by the registered user.

After registering at LIT, Saint Paul will not be able to issue any invoice bearing data that are any different than the data provided by the registered user. So it is of utmost importance that all the data you enter comply with the individual or company for whom the invoice will be issued.

The information above also applies to those users who will request reimbursement from their company. If that is your case, we kindly request you to check if the invoice should be issued to your name or to your company’s name in case the company subsidizes your course(s).

Assessment

Assessment

As you take any course assessment, LIT will consider that you are engaged in a course aiming at a Certificate. You will have 90 days to take all this course assessments and will get a Pass degree provided you have obtained a grade average equal to or higher than 7.0 (seven).

The grade average is calculated the following way: 20% for forum participation (case study), 30% for the individual assessment and 50% for the final assessment. You must get at least 7.0 in your final assessment.

Case study assessment (Forum participation)

Case study assessment is conducted by onlearning tutors who will assess your individual participation in the forums. The forums, which are asynchronous and can be accessed at any time, promote interaction, reflection and discussion of theme-related issues along every given discipline.

There is usually one case study per unit of instruction, but you may have as many as 4 cases per course. The quality of your postings will be evaluated by the forum-mediating tutor and you will receive your grade within 10 business days.

Individual situated assessment

This assessment aims at situated practical application of all the theoretical content of a given course. You will have to reflect on a proposed task and develop the task outside the platform. When your produced response is ready you will upload it onto LIT as your response to the task. The format of your response may be in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.

You will have to take one individual situated assessment per course. The onlearning tutor will assess your response to the task and you will receive your grade within 10 business days.

Final assessment

The final assessment is a machine-corrected multiple choice test. You will take one of these per course and will learn your grade seconds after you have taken it, on the very course page.

As I engage in a given course, can I choose not to take the assessments?

Yes, as you engage in a course, you can choose not to take the assessments; however, no Certificate will be issued, then.

At LIT you are free to choose the best way you judge to learn. You are in charge of your learning process, therefore you can choose not to take the assessments.

You will get a Pass grade when your grade average is equal to or higher than 7.0 (seven). The grade average comprises taking all the assessments and tasks proposed as well as engaging in both synchronous and asynchronous interactions held by the forums, chats and social networks.

At LIT you may start a Path that leads to an MBA and complete it at Saint Paul Business School by building up on the credits you earn. Please check the applicable rules in the FAQs about the MBA Programs.

If you fail again, then you will have to re-take the whole course.

What kinds of contents can I learn from Paul?

Paul can teach you the contents comprised by courses like Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, and Fundamentals of Accounting. He also knows all the content of the FAQs. More courses will soon be added to Paul’s ubiquitous tutorship.

Paul is continuously trained by a team of professors with Saint Paul AI Research Center. His learning process is based on an algorithm designed by Saint Paul Business School to transfer the knowledge and teaching techniques to IBM Watson, through combined logics, linguistics and intelligence context to AI. Distinct algorithms have been developed to comply with the teaching of diverse technical and behavioral competencies.

How is the customized learning processed at LIT?

Paul is able to customize your way of learning and what you should learn.

What does the ‘Customize you Learning’ function perform?

The Customize Learning function is the one that defines how you learn. So as to best design your learning experience at LIT it is fundamental that Paul design your advised learning profile and is able to suggest how you should learn. You must take this needs analysis at least once!

So that Paul can assess your learning profile, you must supply examples of both personal and professional day-to-day texts that portray who you are, how you structure your thoughts – like emails, WhatsApp messages, posts etc. The more details you provide, the more accurate the results. As soon as you complete this assessment, you can access your My Profile and check your full learning profile report designed by Paul.

After assessing your profile, Paul will advise you about the more suitable learning mode for you – for instance, if you learn better by viewing a video or by reading. Based on this advice, LIT content will be displayed by adhering to the learning mode that better suits your learning profile.

Your should know that none of the texts provided for Paul’s assessment will be stored or used for any other purposes.

What are the functions of the ‘Customize your Learning’ feature, as I start every course?

By means of an AI knowledge assessment tool, you will be able to assess your prior knowledge about a given theme and eliminate portions of course contents that you already know and so focus on what you really need and want to learn, thus making the most of your time and enjoying each micro-moment of your day.

The assessment takes some 10 minutes. Each course is structured around four Units of Knowledge and to eliminate some of them, you must show that you know at least 80% of their content, that is, that you have considerable knowledge about each topic. The learning contents that you eliminate will be flagged by a gray selection mark.

Groups

What are the Practice Groups and where can I find them?

Practice Groups aim to allow onlearners to interact by discussing course themes or related topics. Each theme has a specific group facilitated by an onlearning professor or tutor . A group may also be created to discuss a specific theme that is of common interest to a number of students.

Please note that groups are not meant to clarify questions about the theme of instruction. For this aim, please use the field  ‘Clarify your questions’, available for every LIT course.

To log in, please click on Groups on the right hand side menu and a dedicated page will open.

How can I create a group?

As you log in the page, click on Create Group. A pop-up window will open where you can fill in the main features of the group – name, public or private group, category the group belongs to and a group description. To complete the action, click on Create and your group will be created.

How can I post a comment?

Once you are logged in a group, you will find a field in the very center of the page where you can add your comment. Write your comment and then click on Post Comment. You can use the same procedure to comment on someone else’s post.

How can I invite people to join my group?

As you create a group, you have to invite people to join by filling in the field on the left hand side of the page with the name of someone you want to invite.  LIT will find that person for you and then you will only have to click on that person’s name to invite him/her.

How can I sign out of a group?

If the theme of the group no longer interested you, or if you have joined a wrong group, no problem – to sign out all you have to do is to click on the Sign-out icon.

How many groups can I engage in?

Student Card

How are the student card benefits ruled in Brazil?

Law no. 12.933/2013 rules all the benefits granted to a student card holder, such as half-price discounts in several purchases all over the country. Pursuant to said Law, the National Student Identification Card identifies an individual as a regular student in authorized courses. The Card is issued by student entities like UNE/UBES/ANPG as well as by municipal and state entities and their affiliates. You may request your student card at http://www.documentodoestudante.com.br/.

Saint Paul Business School and LIT are not authorized to issue student cards, but may issue a document – Confirmation Letter – of your current student status and thus support your application for the student card by following the request guidance provided above.

As a subscriber to LIT, am I eligible for a student card?

No. As LIT courses are considered open courses, open course students are not eligible for a student card as per the legislation in force in Brazil.

To be eligible for a student card you must have entered into an MBA contract with Saint Paul (Contract for the Provision of Educational Services of lato sensu Graduate Program – MBA).

How can I become eligible for a student card as a user of LIT?

You can use the credits you have earned towards an MBA Path, and enter into an MBA contract with Saint Paul (Contract for the Provision of Educational Services of lato sensu Graduate Program – MBA). Once the contract is signed, you can request Saint Paul to issue a Confirmation Letter of your studentship and with that, you may request your student card in compliance with the legislation in force.

How can I request a Confirmation Letter of Studentship so as to allow me to request my student card?

Only after you have entered an MBA contract with Saint Paul (Contract for the Provision of Educational Services of lato sensu Graduate Program – MBA) can you request Saint Paul to issue a Confirmation Letter of your studentship. This formal request should be emailed to secretaria@saintpaul.com.br.

Payment problems

I don’t have a credit card or my credit card has zero credit limit. How can I subscribe?

Currently, payment by credit card is only accepted for the monthly subscription plan. If you wish to subscribe to an annual plan, please send an e-mail to sac@lit.com.br to get more information.

I’ve had billing problems on my credit card. What should I do?

Credit card billings may fail for a number of reasons, most often for zero credit limit or billing blocked by the card managing institution or by billing companies.

If the problem is zero credit limit, a possible solution might be advancing the payment of your invoice (please check how to do that with your financial institution).

If the problem is blocked billing, please contact he card processor and request information about billing. If no previous attempt of billing has been made, please contact our sac@lit.com.br.

If you need to change your credit card, you can do that on your My Profile page. Also, please check your personal data are correct and valid, as our system crosses the data with the credit card processor to get billing authorization.

I’ve contacted my credit card processor and there is no record of previous purchasing attempts

The transaction is likely to have been declined by Adyen (company used by LIT to process payments) or by one of its acquiring parties (Cielo, Getnet and Adyen, who mediate transactions between LIT and the credit card brands). Adyen may have suspended the credit card account because of disputes over purchases with other businesses that also use Adyen, or the acquiring parties may have declined the transaction for security reasons. Contact your financial institution or Adyen at https://support.adyen.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to inquire about the problem.

What may cause a payment by credit card to be blocked?

Usually, transactions are declined for security reasons. Your credit card processor may detect an out-of-standard purchasing transaction and refuse the purchase. The risk and fraud assessment systems of acquiring parties that mediate these transactions between the card brands and the retail businesses may also reject a given transaction.

Adyen is the company used by LIT to process payments (and to forward them to its acquiring parties) and so it may decline certain transactions.

I have chosen an annual subscription plan to be paid in installments, but this has affected my credit card limit.

Certain LIT promotions allow users to use more than one credit card and pay for their annual subscription in up to three installments. When you choose the payment in installments, you must have a credit card limit equal to or higher than the total subscription amount. Billing will be displayed in your credit card statement according to the payment mode you have selected, signaling the number of installments and amount of each installment.

However, for a monthly subscription, billing is processed every month. Although you should have a a credit card limit equal to or higher than the monthly subscription amount, this payment mode does not impact your credit limit.

How can I change the credit card that is registered in my LIT account?

It is really easy to change the credit card that you have registered. Log in and then do that on your My Profile page.
